Stanislavski
The creator of the Spiritual Psychology of Acting
John began his journey in Welsh drama classes, as a child, too shy to go up on stage and improvise. Then, one day an impulse took him, shooting it’s way through his body like a lightning bolt, and he began to act and improvise. Looking back, this was the moment he found his true passion, the moment of inspiration that has driven him to learn more about the craft, find new teachers, and lead the next generation of actors.
He began with the work of Konstantin Stanislavski and Sam Kogan, who had trained in Moscow under one of Stanislavski’s students. The theory worked for John, but the practice itself felt lacking, like some part of the system was missing. John found a piece of that puzzle in Michael Chekov, but it wasn’t until his research into the truth of human beings, which led him to Sri Shantananda Saraswati. Here the blend of Eastern Philosophy and Western Psychology was born, and from it, The Spiritual Psychology of Acting.
Here’s what you’ll learn in the intro session:
"I trained with John for seven years after I left drama school and I consider him to be the most important influence on my career. The Spiritual Psychology of Acting represents the cutting edge of actor training available in the World today."
